daleklover@sbcglobal.net asked:
I would love to have a career as a film or video editor in Hollywood someday, or at least editing some kind of video, but I know absolutley nothing. I was wondering where you folks think I should go, if I should go to a film school or a regular university. Please help me. Thanks.
Ryan

any community college would have something to get started on.
A lot is dependent upon what cost and travel limitations you have. It isn’t necessary to get a Fine Arts degree. You can get a fairly decent understanding of techniques from many community college classes or even workshops. One place where you might want to check out is at the New York Film Academy. They have extension schools in many places besides New York City including Los Angeles, Harvard University, Paris and Shanghai among other locations. Make sure that any where you choose, offers you plenty of hands on practice in addition to lecture based learning. Your employability down the road will depend more on your talent and that will only come from practice.
Most of all, learn to have fun with it!
usc has a great film program and is regarded as one of the best colleges
well, at my church they had a hollywood producer come looking for filmmakers. also my school had a movie thing there. google it or keep looking on your towns/cities bullitens. u never know who could come
Try to find a college that would have that. And take some courses that have to do with what you want to be I’m thinking community colleges maybe not sure.
